The Bulgaria Climate Coalition is an informal platform established in 2005 on the occasion of an informal citizen initiative to mark the Global Day of Action against Climate Change (under the Campaign Against Climate Change) in Bulgaria.
The Coalition comprises non-governmental organisations, companies, individual members and people working or active in the area of mitigating or preventing anthropogenic climate change around the world. The Bulgaria Climate Coalition is a platform for combining the efforts of its members in advocacy, education, scientific, business and public awareness activities in various areas for the purposes of mitigating anthropogenic climate change.
The Coalition conducts advocacy and public awareness campaigns in Bulgaria on issues related to climate change and takes part in international events, campaigns and initiatives. Representatives of the Bulgaria Climate Coalition and its member organisations take part in numerous forums such as the annual conferences and meetings to discuss progress in relation to climate change issues organised under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
On an institutional level, the Coalition contributes to drafting proposals and opinions on official plans, strategies and legislation directly or indirectly related to climate change. Representatives of the Coalition take part in inter-departmental working groups and councils of citizens working on a national and international level.
The Bulgaria Climate Coalition is open to new participants who share its basic views and principles.
In order to join the Coalition, you have to express your agreement with the basic principles uniting the coalition as set out in its Memorandum of Understanding.
